    Liz Gershoff is Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. She leads a dedicated team that supports graduate programs and postdoctoral training programs across the UT Austin campus. She is passionate about graduate education, having herself earned both master’s and doctoral degrees at UT Austin and having served seven years as Graduate Adviser in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences. Vice Provost Gershoff also served as Postdoctoral Training Director, NIH T32 Principal Investigator, and Center Director at the Population Research Center in the College of Liberal Arts.

    Associate Vice Provost, Graduate Student Affairs
    Professor, Department of Educational Psychology

    Associate Vice Provost Chris McCarthy oversees the academic success and well-being of the graduate student community at UT Austin. Dr. McCarthy has been a faculty member in Educational Psychology since 1995 and his research focuses on stress and coping in educational contexts, career development and group counseling. Before joining the graduate school, Dr. McCarthy also served as the faculty co-ombud for UT Austin. 

    As Associate Vice Provost, Dr. McCarthy works to address issues that arise over the course of a student’s journey at the University and works with the graduate school student services team to offer guidance, tools and support to students from admission through graduation. Dr. McCarthy also works with partners across campus to develop resources and promote graduate student success in and out of the classroom.

    Michelle Broadway oversees proposals for new or changed degree, certificate, and portfolio programs, Graduate School Catalog, classification of graduate students, publications & other communications and special projects.

    As the Associate Vice Provost of Postdoctoral Affairs, Dr. Lydia Contreras oversees the newly established Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. This office supports the professional and career development of postdoctoral scholars at UT Austin equipping them with the research, scholarship and/or creative activity and professional skills necessary to successfully undertake independent academic research.
